THE CHILD CARE LETTER CAMPAIGN

#CHILDCARELETTERCAMPAIGN

THE CAMPAIGN

Many Canadian families are struggling to pay for, find and access child care in Canada. The Liberal government plans to create a new child care framework and your voice is needed to guide a framework that meets the needs of Canadians!

On Monday January 25th I am calling on Canadians to take the time to remind our government that we have a massive social policy issue. Child care fee's continue to rise along with the wait for a subsidized child care spaces. This is the perfect time to get out a pen and paper and write a letter to our government to call on investing in our future and building an equal Canada. Your words matter!

I have created a letter template below that participants can use as a guide when writing their child care letter. Letters should be typed, signed and sent to The Federal Minister of Children, Families and Social Development, Jean - Yves Duclos.

STEP BY STEP:

1. Write your letter and stamp it

2. Take a photo of your letter

3. Mail your letter

4. Post a photo of your letter on social media and include #IsentMyChildCareLetter

THE CAMPAIGN BEGINS JANUARY 25TH 2016 AND RUNS FOR TWO WEEKS

Child care advocates across Canada have developed a shared framework on building an early childhood education and care system. In order to help generate community support, please review the document and attach it to your letter.

THE HARD TRUTH

$20,000

Is the median cost for centre based infant care for one child in Toronto a year.

The cost of full time licensed child care for one child is between 25 to 35 percent of a mother's income before taxes.

Despite the cost of care, several Early Childhood Educators are paid minimum wage.
